Airlines for America has launched a new public awareness campaign to showcase what it says are the steps airlines are taking to ensure passenger safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consider joining CEO Update. Membership gives full access to the latest intelligence on association management, career advancement, compensation trends and networking events, as well as hundreds of listings for senior-level association jobs.
The "Fly Healthy. Fly Smart." campaign was unveiled before Memorial Day Weekend, typically one of the busiest times of year for travel. It consists of an infographic, video, blog posts, social media engagement and an updated webpage at AirlinesTakeAction.com, all highlighting enhanced cleaning and procedural changes U.S. airlines are implementing during the pandemic.
"The safety and wellbeing of passengers and employees is the top priority of U.S. airlines. Since the ons-et of this health crisis, carriers have been taking substantial, proactive steps—in many instances exceeding CDC guidance—to protect passengers and employees," A4A CEO Nicholas Calio said.
The campaign was launched after airlines were criticized for photos showing planes packed with passengers. A4A said that passengers are required to wear masks at all times and that planes are equipped with HEPA air filters, which help generate hospital-grade air quality.
